چکیده

Introduction The tongue is the most common site of malignancy in oral cavity, and squamous cell carcinoma commonest histology. prognosis remains unfavorable despite treatment, resulting higher mortality rates. Early stage a distinct entity primarily treated with either surgery or radiotherapy. Various factors have been implicated early carcinomas. main objective this study to access whether lymphocytic host response (LHR) other prognostic influence survival. Patients Methods data 129 patients Stage I II (T1-2, N0) cancer our institute from January 2012 December 2016 were retrospectively abstracted hospital case records. various clinical pathological recorded. Kaplan–Meier model was used for survival analysis. disease-free (DFS) overall (OS) respect LHR calculated. Results On multivariate analysis, lesion, comorbidities, habits, grade tumor, perineural infiltration (PNI) did not factor which found be significant DFS LHR. better who had ≥ 70% (strong LHR) when compared <70%(weak (p = 0.037). Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Clinical Study

Background and Objectives: Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue (SCCOT) is the most common malignant neoplasm in oral cavity. At the time of the diagnosis of SCCOT regional metastases with a high mortality rate are common, which is due to the extensive lymphatic system drainage of the tongue. Although the level of healthcare has significantly improved, the survival rate is still low with an...

Factors Related to Regional Recurrence in Early Stage Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Oral Tongue

OBJECTIVES This study analyzed various clinical and histopathologic factors for patients with early stage squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oral tongue to define a high risk group for regional recurrence and finally to find out the indication of elective neck dissection (END). METHODS Retrospective chart review was performed for 63 patients with T1-T2N0 SCC of the oral tongue who underwent...

Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma an Immunohistochemical Analysis of Prognostic Markers

Tongue cancer is the most common malignancy diagnosed within the oral cavity. Though oral tongue cancer is generally diagnosed at an early stage, the prognosis is poor due to frequent recurrence. Therefore, it is important to identify factors predictive of recurrence and to treat those patients with a high probability of recurrence with specialized treatment strategies. Between 2004 and 2009, a...

Coexistence of Granular Cell Tumor with Squamous Cell Carcinoma on the Tongue: A Case Report

Introduction: Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are rare and mostly benign soft tissue tumors. Though they have been reported in all parts of body, they are generally located in the head and neck region, especially on the tongue. Some malign forms exist, but these have been rarely reported. Granular cell tumors have a neural origin and, in immunohistochemical evaluations, they express S-100 and neuro...

MicroRNA-196a-5p is a potential prognostic marker of delayed lymph node metastasis in early-stage tongue squamous cell carcinoma

MicroRNAs (miRs) are expected to serve as prognostic tools for cancer. However, many miRs have been reported as prognostic markers of recurrence or metastasis in oral squamous cell carcinoma patients. We aimed to determine the prognostic markers in early-stage tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). Based on previous studies, we hypothesized that miR-10a, 10b, 196a-5p, 196a-3p, and 196b were pro...
